What should be the ethichal relationship between value invested in Monero (buy the coin directly) and Hash-power donated through solo mining?

I would feel guilty to invest a lot of money and do only this ”hodl“ without even donating one thread of my CPU.

What do you think? What is your ethical relationship?

For example: buy hardware for 100 H/s every 1000$ invested on the exchange or 500$ in hardware every 3000$ on the exchange…
