Monero is illegal for 23% of the global population.

If I did the math correctly of adding up all the countries that outlaw or regulate cryptocurrency to an extent that makes them unusable as a currency, it's 1.8 billion people, or 23% of the global population.

This trend is probably going to continue: more regulations in more countries veering towards making them illegal to use as a cash/currency.

I'd like to be able to announce that I accept Monero in such a country, without it being obviously and directly incriminating.

How might I go about this? Anyone have any good ideas beyond having every aspect of my interactions being anonymous?

Could Monero subaddresses be used as an analogue for a phone number in a modified signal type end to end encrypted chat so that I can give away my contact info, which doubles as my payment information?
