Mining monero without a lot of spare storage space?

Hey,

I've just recently started getting into crypto, and I'm currently running bitcoin core and the GUI wallet for monero. I wanted to mine some monero, but the size of the blockchain that it seems i'll be needing to download is prohibitive. Isn't there some way for me to donate some processing power to a node without needing to buy a whole external SSD? I kind of just want to click "start" on my laptop and get some a few cents while i'm cleaning around the house between assignments.

Best tips? maybe multiple ways of treating this? I'm interested to read into and try many, but I don't have hundreds of GBs to spare.

Thanks in advance!
