Why isn’t there any reward for running a node?

Nodes contribute to decentralization and the way my beginner mind understand it, is the backbone for Monero. Correct me, those who invested money to run nodes, do it simply because they don't want to share their wallet viewkey to gain the most privacy and won't get any monetary gain.

Why do Monero only reward miners and not nodes? i.e the network relies on merely good intentions to promote decentralization. Serious question.

I know of a certain L1 crypto that reward its nodes in its consensus algorithm (i hope that's the term) but was surprised that this is not common practice.
