Can someone tell me the basics of bitcoin?

Im completely new to this, i've watched videos to try and understand it (and did to some extent) and asked chatgpt but I thought it would best come from actual present people. Not that you guys are fully present, but I dont have anyone else since I know no one who has knowledge about. Just explain a few things you wished you knew when YOU were new to it.
