After almost 15 years, this subreddit still celebrates whens someone posts a video of them buying a beer with bitcoin. How do people still believe it to be the future of currency when adoption the past decade has been negligible?
To me, it seems very obvious why bitcoin hasnt found adoption at scale. Because for the step forward it might take towards financial independence (ignoring any arguments that could be made against that) it takes a few backwards in other departments like finality, scalability, ease of use, costs and user-error resistance, compared to the current financial system.
Also, I am talking about bitcoin, not lighting network. Even though it scales better, it has its own set of issues which is another topic.
