So everyone’s hot and bothered over Ledger being Ledger, which I get…The criticism is totally deserved. But one of the key details I haven’t seen answered yet is: does the new firmware pull the existing private seed off the device, or does it force a wipe and make you restore your seed phrase in order to generate the shards before writing the private seed to the Secure Element? There’s a lot of people that are implying that somehow the new firmware is able to pull the key from the secure element. However I have not seen any credible evidence to that. But I’ll admit, news happens fast and there’s something I may have missed!
